North of Hilo on
the slopes of Mauna Loa are prime
farmland
areas, many with spectacular ocean views. A running stream, pasture, and even
your own waterfall is possible. Many are old sugar cane properties. Due to the
closing of the sugar plantations, many areas have changed to diversified ag and
many properties are just waiting for you to start that farm in paradise. Although
prices are down, the starting price for standard 5-10 acre property with views
is $100,000 and up.
Factors which determine price can be varied, including access
(some are quite secluded with 4-wheel dr. necessary, while others may be
on paved rds), view, utilities, terrain, pasture or forest, etc.
